Collegiate Highlight: Big Bunz Burger
Background: Students in the business course have been presented with an exciting real-world challenge to apply their classroom learning.
The Challenge
To run a food truck for a day at HLPS School under the name Big Bunz Burger, where they will prepare and serve burgers to the school community.
The Tasks
This initiative provides students with an opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial skills through a series of tasks:
- Creating a New Business Venture: Students crafted a complete business plan for their venture, Big Bunz Burger, gaining first hand experience in launching a business.
- Delivering an Elevator Pitch: Students attended a masterclass with Wendy Muise to learn how to create and deliver an impactful 60-second pitch.
- Designing and Printing a Logo: Under the guidance of Mr. Dave Peters, students participated in a hands-on masterclass to design and print a professional logo for their venture.
- Conducting Market Research: To better understand their target audience, students conducted a comprehensive market research survey within the HLPS building.
- Gaining Industry Insights: Students toured Kamado Inc. and attended a masterclass with its owner, Mr. Eric, who shared his entrepreneurial journey and success strategies.
- Securing Sponsorships: Students visited local businesses to meet with entrepreneurs and secure sponsorships for their food truck venture.
- Prototyping the Product: On December 4, students ran a prototype session to test and refine their burger recipes based on feedback.
- Masterclass on E-Commerce and Marketing: On December 6, students participated in a session with Chandra Tincombe, focusing on creating an eye-catching e-commerce website, posters, and advertisements for their marketing and promotional tasks.
- Presenting Their Work: On December 10, students presented their projects and business journey to an external audience.
- Final Execution: The ultimate test of their skills took place on December 12, when students operated the Big Bunz Burger food truck, serving their burgers to the HLPS school community.
