FVSD Bachelor of Education Bursary

Grow Our Own

The Fort Vermilion School Division has created a Bursary Program to assist individuals with a passion for teaching to attain their Bachelor of Education. Working with new partners at Northwestern Polytechnic, FVSD is offering northern residents access to a newly established program, the only one of its kind in Alberta.

An FVSD cohort will attend classes at Northwestern Polytechnic. Through this unique partnership, students will be taught by Fort Vermilion School Division employees on campus in Grande Prairie.

As part of this innovative program, a one-year residency will be completed at an FVSD school under the mentorship of an experienced teacher. During their residency, students will teach their own class for a full school year as they learn practical skills and gain invaluable experience.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 15, 2025

This program is for individuals entering into a 4-Year BEd program or a 2-Year After-Degree BEd program (begins 2027) at Northwestern Polytechnic.
