Fort Vermilion School Division (FVSD) is proud to announce that Superintendent Mike McMann has been honored as a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal. The medal, presented on March 27, is granted to individuals who exemplify excellence in leadership, dedication, and community impact.

Superintendent McMann accepted the medal Thursday at a ceremony in Edmonton. He was selected for recognition due to his unwavering commitment to student success, innovative programs, and fostering a positive learning environment. Under McMann’s leadership, Fort Vermilion School Division has redefined education in Alberta, leading the province in transforming Career Education. This recognition underscores Superintendent McMann’s remarkable contributions to education and his dedication to the success of students and educators alike.

His ground-breaking Building Futures Collegiate project provides students access to innovative programs, cutting-edge technology, and personalized career path opportunities. McMann and his team have empowered students to explore diverse career paths and succeed in an ever-changing job market. This initiative also relies on partnerships with local industry leaders, employers, and post-secondary institutions throughout Alberta. These partnerships not only strengthen the connection between education and industry but also help students connect with potential employers and build meaningful career pathways.

“This recognition is truly an honour for the best educational team in this province,” said McMann. Acknowledging that this accomplishment is a team effort, he continued, “I accepted this medal on behalf of every person in FVSD who dedicates their life to the children of our district.”

“On behalf of the FVSD School Board, we would like to congratulate Superintendent McMann on this well deserved recognition,” said FVSD Board Chair, Marc Beland. “We are truly fortunate to have a leader who, while being exceptionally energetic, dedicated, and innovative, is also completely focused on creating opportunities and conditions for the success of our children.”

The King Charles III Coronation Medal commemorates the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. During the anniversary year, 30,000 medals will be awarded across Canada.
