RLNS Admin Profiles for the 2022-2023 School Year
Grant Charles, Principal
Having grown up in the north, Grant’s plan was to come back for a couple of years after receiving his degree before moving on. Little did he know, he would still be here 20 years later! As a kid, Grant had wanted to become a policeman but he ultimately chose a teaching career. His favorite subject as a student was math, it made sense to him and he enjoyed finding the solution to the problem at hand.
“I am looking forward to developing relationships with all parents and community members. We encourage parents to come to parent council meetings, parent/teacher night, and other fun nights we host at the school. Our doors are open to all parents/guardians to discuss how best we can support your children.”
Megan Hardy, Assistant Principal
Fresh out of university, Megan reached out to fellow teachers in Alberta who put her in touch with her first principal. After a move from New Brunswick and nine years with FVSD, Megan says this is one of the best decisions she’s ever made! With childhood memories of playing school and making her younger siblings practice reading, Megan has always known she was going to be a teacher. Her love of reading and discussing novels was reflected at school as well, with English being her favorite subject.
“Being new to Rocky Lane, I am most looking forward to connecting with the community. I have been so pleased with the warm welcome I've received so far, and I am really looking forward to the various school events that will allow me to get to know the culture and community of Rocky Lane.”
