Florence MacDougall Community School is an Early Intervention to Grade 3 school with a population of approximately 350 students and over 50 staff members. We are located in the town of High Level in the northwestern region of Alberta, along the Mackenzie Highway.
About Us
We may be a small school but our hearts are big!
The ideals of Friendship, Manners, Caring and Safety are promoted and actively encouraged every school day and throughout the school year. Students and their families are at the center of everything we do at FMCS, we love watching 'our' children learn, grow and build success!
We have numerous classes at each grade level and many programs and support systems in place to help each student reach their full potential. Ongoing FMCS events, such as our Education Cafe, Teddy Bear Picnic and Family Christmas Night, help to bring our school community together and create a welcoming climate.
We are approximately eight hundred kilometers north of Edmonton (our provincial capital) and eight hundred kilometers south of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The town has a population of approximately 3500 people.
High Level's main industries are logging, oil and gas, grain farming (we are home to one of the most northerly farming areas in all of Canada!) and service to the surrounding areas. During Winter and Fall we enjoy the spectacular Northern Lights. The Spring and Summer months bring us a lot of sunshine – about 20 hours a day in June!
Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions, comments or ideas. We would love to hear from you!
Keep an eye on our website or follow us on Facebook for the latest news and events! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the school or stop in for a visit.
